Onslaught of Smash Brothers news

Lots of Smash Brothers news

So first off we now know that the Super Smash Brothers 3DS game will be released this summer while the Wii U version will be released around winter time.  Seems a bit odd at first but it’s understandable.  This is probably a way to get players to purchase both versions and rather than paying for them both at once, space them out to make the purchase more tempting and less pricy at one time.

For the new multiplayer news we find out for random online battles you can battle in two modes. For Fun, or For Glory.  For Fun is like any multiplayer battle, but For Glory puts the players in Final Destination with no items.  For Glory is definitely an interesting twist focusing simply on combat ability which will be more important with the new combos this version will have.  The 3DS version will have a unique multiplayer mode where for five minutes players will travel around the map and gain powerups by defeating random enemies. After the time limit the players go head to head so those who gain more powerups will have a significant advantage so this multiplayer mode is all about being able to maneuver quickly and effectively in order to defeat enemies as fast as possible.

Then we got some character news. First of all Shiek and Zelda are now two separate characters. So one cannot transform into the other. All transformations are taken out of the game so not only does this take out the well known Zelda/Shiek character but also we see Samus, and Zero Suit Samus separated. This also applied to the Pokemon Trainer because Squirtle and Bulbasaur are out. Charizard is now its own character and will join the fighting roster.  Also Charizard and Lucario will have their mega forms from Pokemon X and Y, but how that will affect the Pokemon is still unknown. My guess is their final smash attack will transform the pokemon and power up their moves.  Finally we get two confirmed characters Yoshi is returning and the new character Greninja, the Dark/water pokemon from Pokemon X and Y and the final evolution of the 6th generation water starter Froakie.

A lot of news in Super Smash Brothers and many of it was great, but on a personal note I’m a little disappointed because of the lack of Fire Emblem news in it. With the 3DS version featuring a level from Fire Emblem Awakening it leaves me to believe that a character from that game will show up, and if I’m right then that also means that we have a lot more to learn about the Super Smash Brothers roster so there’s still a lot we don’t know and we don’t have long before we can get our hands on the game.
