Game Boy Advance games to be added to Nintendo E-Shop

Nintendo working on adding Game Boy Advance games to E-shop

With the E-shop players can purchase downloadable games to add to their system, and it works as a great way to get your hands on older games for newer consoles. Hopefully soon we can see some of the great Game Boy Advance games on e-shop, but as of this moment Nintendo is still working on it.

Because Nintendo does not put recent games like DS games on the e-shop we shouldn’t expect that to change soon, but now that the Game Boy Advance games are unplayable in this generation now is a great time to be adding them so players can still enjoy some of the old favorites like Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones, Golden Sun, and of course Mario.

Virtual Battle damage valued at $200,000

EVE-Online

Virtual Battle damages worth $200,000

Eve Online experienced its biggest battle yet with damages valued at $200,000. EVE Online is an online game where players can make their own fleet of starships and send them into battle to form alliances, claim territories, and battle against people all over the world. Players use the games currency, ISK, in order to purchase ships to sent into battle. Players also have to pay a monthly fee in order to continue playing this game.  You can either pay the fee with your own money or use some of your ISK. Using this information it was possible to determine that $1 is roughly 4 million ISK.

The largest ship in the game is the Titan which can cost around 222 billion ISK, which translates to $5,500. 75 of these ships were destroyed in yesterdays battle which makes it easy to see how this battle has such a costly price tag.

But why did this battle happen.  Apparently someone missed a payment so that freed up a section in the game which could be taken by other players. Major groups in the game rushed over to secure the open section and battled furiously in order to take it. Over 4,000 players participated in this battle and it was easily the largest and most brutal battle in the game’s history.  Eventually the battle ended and someone won, but at a large cost to their fleet. Now all the combatants struggle to restore their fleets to their former glory as they have to build up their material and ISK to make their ships all over again.

Vita possibly on the rise?

Vita

Could the Vita be on the rise?

Since its release the Vita has been overshadowed by literally every other console on the market. The Vita has hardly been news worthy, but all that could be changing with some new games coming out that are getting some publicity in gaming news.

The first is Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars. The newest game by Atlus USA this JRPG will hit stores on April 15, 2014 for PS Vita and Nintendo 3DS.  While not much is known about this game in particular, Atlus has always provided some of the most iconic JRPG’s around which could prove to be beneficial for the Vita.

The second game is Demon Gaze, a Vita exclusive by NIS America, coming stores on April 22, 2014. NIS America is another company known for their quality of games and with this game being a Vita exclusive gamers will have to get a Vita in order to get their hands on this game.

While we still don’t have a lot of news about games for the Vita, the fact that we’re getting games from well known corporations shows that it could rise in popularity. With it being early in the year it’s possible for more games to come out for the Vita and give it the popularity it needs to sell. So what do you think? Can the Vita pull off what the 3DS did last year or is it too late for this almost forgotten system?

Project X Zone gets a serious price cut

Project X

Project X Zone gets a serious price cut

Project X Zone is a massive crossover game that released last year on the 3DS. While it got decent reviews from those who played it, the game didn’t sell very well.  It was clearly a game for hard core fans as the gameplay had very little influence from the games that were used to make up the wide cast of characters.

The game features characters from several different games from Megaman, Street Fighter, Tales of Vesperia, Shining Force, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, and the list goes on and on, but while it features so many popular games some people feel that the characters were mere cameos of their respective games.

In the North America e-shop the game was reduced to $20 so if you haven’t had the chance to pick it up and want to now is your chance.

Assassin’s Creed movie coming out in 2015

AssassinsCreed

Assassin’s Creed the Movie in 2015

We finally get concrete news about the Assassin’s Creed movie. Set to release summer 2015, but nothing is set in stone yet.  It is believed that 20th Century Fox’s first choice to direct the movie is Daniel Espinosa the director of Safe House, but like the movie date there’s no official confirmation on that.

What we do know is Fox already confirmed Michael Fassbender, Magneto on X-Men: First Class, to act in the film having a lot of confidence in his ability.

We have no idea if Fox plans to take content straight from the Assassin’s Creed games, or comics, or if they plan on creating a new story in the Assassin’s Creed universe, but at least we know for sure it will hit theaters. What would you prefer though? Do you want to see another version of Assassin’s Creed 1, or would you prefer some side arc instead?

Review of Legend of Zelda: Link Between Worlds

The-Legend-of-Zelda-A-Link-Between-Worlds

Review of Legend of Zelda Link Between Worlds

Thanks to a contest on IGN I managed to get my hands on a copy of Legend of Zelda Link Between Worlds. So after beating the game I figured I’d review the game and highlight some things that really stood out and improved the Legend of Zelda series as a whole.

Let’s start with the gameplay.  It has the same style of gameplay you’d expect from your standard Zelda game where you have a couple of buttons to use your sword, and a couple of tools, and you use the direction pad to navigate dungeons; however, the simple idea of being able to turn into a 2D painting and travel on walls made a huge change to how you go about playing the game.

Normally when you come across an open gap in the game that’s a sign that you have to find another way across, but with this new power in many cases you can just simple travel along the wall. This was a bit hard to get used to because it opens up several more options on what you can do in a dungeon. It was a  very nice addition to the game and it was a lot of fun to experiment on what you can do with this new power. Another thing I liked about it is how it improves your ability to move around a dungeon safely. Not only will enemies not see or attack you, but you can’t take damage from normal enemies while in painting mode.

Another addition to the gameplay was the use of items. Normally with bombs and arrows you buy a set amount of ammo to use, but instead every item uses up your magic gauge and so while you have an unlimited supply, you can only use them so much before you have to recharge. This made it easier to be ready for combat and scenarios, but it also meant you couldn’t just keep using the items over and over again and spam enemies with them.

A shocking twist to this game was the story. This game actually has a solid story to it and it keeps the player engaged, without causing a distraction with the gameplay.  Zelda and the seven sages are captured, and it’s your goal to rescue them.  They were taken out of Hyrule and into a new world called Lorule.  There you work with the Princess Hilda to find the sages and of course go and stop the bad guy but you see a plot develop as you progress in the game. A story in both Hyrule and Lorule that engages the gamer in between the dungeons.  While it seems like a simple idea to just develop a more engaging story , it added so much to the game and made it even harder than normal to put it down.

Then there is the open world game where you can rent items and go to any dungeon you want in no particular order.  Honestly it wasn’t as big of a deal as it was made out to be, but it was a nice idea.  It just made it easier to go from one dungeon to another because if you get stuck looking for a dungeon you can always look for another one.

Finally the items. It’s nice to be able to get the items at any time, and the idea of loosing those items if you die in the game adds to the difficulty a little bit. The problem is with so many rupees spread all over the map it’s not hard at all to have plenty of money to spare in case you die to go and re rent your items.  So while this idea was supposed to add stress to the gamer to be more careful, it really just adds an irritating twist to when you die in the game.

Overall the game is amazing and hard to put down. You have more options at any point in the game, and you have a more engaging story that keeps you playing.  I recommend this game to any Legend of Zelda fan, and I suggest it to any 3DS owner as an excellent addition to their collection.

I give this game a 10/10

Intel dives deeper in the tablet market

intel

Intel Strives for the Tablets

Intel plans to increase the amount of tablets that incorporate Intel technology from 10 to 40 million in 2014. With computer sells down, and tablet sells on the rise Intel plans to adapt to the market by having more tablet makers incorporate their Bay Trial processing chip instead of the ARM-Processor found in most tablets.

This seems like a simple transition but the Bay Chip requires more materials in order to make it fully functional, so to persuade companies to use their product Intel plans to completely fund the cost of materials. Even Intel CFO Stacy Smith admitted that they will have a “significant increase” in operating loss in order to fund this plan. They are hoping companies such as Samsung will take advantage of this offer and switch to their processing chips.

While it seems like this is a bad idea at face value Intelis planning for years to come as they plan on releasing a new chip in 2015 which should reduce the cost of materials needed to be incorporated into tablets. By then they hope by then more companies will be using Intel brand chips so when they switch to the new model, companies will be willing to pay for the new chip.

So Intel plans to lose money by paying companies to use their processing chips in their tablets, but once successful they plan to release a new,  and cheaper chip to start selling to the companies who now use Intel products. It’s clearly risky because they’ll lose a lot of money up front, but if the tablet makers agree to this it could mean a big pay off in the long run for Intel.

Tales of Phantasia on iOS

tales of phantasia

Tales of Phantasia comes to iOS devices

Tales of Phantasia, originally released on the Game Boy Advance, arrives as a free to play game on iOS devices.

For anyone who is a fan of the Tales games, that comes as a surprise as each game in the series comes with complex characters, long story arcs, and hours and hours of gameplay; however, the app increases the game’s difficulty to force players to buy help such as in game items, and continuing right where you fell if you got a game over, and has an always online requirement so the game can’t be played without an internet connection.

While this seems nice, it’s better to go ahead and look for the original copy online and purchase that over this free to play app.
