Updates on Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire

Mega Evolution

Update on Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire

So as you can see from the image Swampert and Sceptile will gain mega evolutions to complete mega evolutions for all the generation three starters. Sceptile’s Mega evolution will add a Dragon type which will help with super effective fire type moves but increase the weakness to ice and add a weakness to Fairy and Dragon Type moves so overall type wise it might actually make the weaker. As for Mega Swampert it’ll still be a Water/Ground type but from how it looks it is fair to assume it’s going to be a huge increase to its defense stat.

Three more mega evolutions have been confirmed first is Mega Diancie. Diancie is a special event pokemon not yet released in the U.S so not a whole lot is known about it, but the huge bit of news is that Groudon and Kygore are getting mega evolutions. While we don’t know what those forms look like we do know it’s going to have an ancient prehistoric theme to their appearance.

While this is all the confirmed news we also can see from the images above that the new Pokemon Games will keep the same format as Pokemon X and Y with 3D battles and gameplay.  This makes me really excited for the Secret Base aspect of the original games. Making a secret base and seeing it in 3D will really evolve an already popular aspect that we haven’t seen in a long time. I don’t count Generation four secret bases because the underground aspect really killed it for me.

Xavier Can Walk?

Xavier can walk?

If you look at the trailers for the upcoming film X-men: Days of future past you’ll find the shocking fact that young Xavier is walking.

How Xavier is walking is a mystery but movie producer Simon Kinberg told IGN  that it “is a big part of the story and his arc over the span of the movie,” stating that the movie is about Xavier “accepting his place in the chair.”

So why he is walking is unknown but it gives the impression that this movie is all about making Xavier the man we all know him to be, the bald leader in the wheelchair. Makes you wonder how Xavier avoided his paralysis but more so it makes you wonder what kind of confrontation this will make between the past and future Xaviers.

Is it a smart move to make Xavier the focal point of the movie? Or is it the idea the movie needs for it to stand out against the onslaught of hero movies?

Justice League Confirmed

Justice League Confirmed

First we now know that joining Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman is the half human sci tech titan Cyborg played by Ray Fisher. Kind of hard to believe that now the Justice League movie is confirmed when it looks like we already have one with four of the members already appearing in the same movie.

A Justice League movie has been confirmed and could possibly air in 2017 just one year after Man of Steel 2. While it’s great to see a Justice League movie in the makings their is a great risk that comes with this movie. Without taking the time to develop any of the characters except for Superman in the DC cinematic universe the fans have not had the time to see how the individual actors and actresses making up the League portray there heroic roles. This doesn’t give fans the time to really grow attached to the characters and could ruin the movie as a whole. Then you have the Man of Steel sequel which seems more like a Justice League Prequel more than anything else.

So there you have it, the Justice League is coming. Will it work? Or will this fall short of the Avengers? The methods of the DC movies bring up a lot of questions which will not be answered to at least the Man of Steel sequel.

Defenders Assemble

Defenders

Defenders Assemble

We already know that Defenders will appear on Netflix starting off with Daredevil to appear for 13 episodes and then following with shows revolving around the characters Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage. The goal of this is introduce characters that focus less on the flashy flamboyant characters and focus more on the darker side of the Marvel Universe.

We already know that Daredevil played by DC’s new Batman Ben Affleck was not the most popular Marvel movie, but how will Marvel bring justice to the crimson hero? We just have to wait and see as we still know very little about the show, but what we do know is with all four heroes it will eventually lead up to the four heroes teaming together to form the group The Defenders.

If that wasn’t amazing enough Kevin Smith confirmed that this is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The question remains will the Defenders just play off of the movies like Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or will the Defenders finish their arc and make an appearance in Avengers 3?

Mass Effect Coming to Next Gen

Mass Effect

Mass Effect Coming to next gen

Mass Effect seems to be preparing for a release on the X-Box One and the PS4. The games have been out for awhile now but because of how well the series as a whole did it does seem like a smart move to bring them over to the newest consoles.

However, I doubt the sales will be very high because with the series already been out for so long and the trilogy edition out for the last generation consoles many fans who have any interest in buying the games already have done so. Still if any completed game series deserves to be adapted to this new generation of consoles it’s hard to pick a more deserving series than Mass Effect.

Nintendo’s New Direction

Iwata Satoru

Nintendo’s new direction

Nintendo President Iwata Satoru had some interesting comments to make about Nintendo. In a presentation he stated that while the company will still create video games the company needs to understand and adapt to the changing lifestyle.

Satoru made this statement, “Surely, a lot of people around the world must think ‘Nintendo is a company that is just for video games,’ about us, and I believe that there are more and more of our own employees who have begun to think like that. So, even if the fact that our focus being video games won’t be changing, I felt the need to take this occasion to say ‘Nintendo is a company that can do whatever they want’. Satoru also continued by focusing on the ideas of improving the quality of life of the consumer by fulfilling basic entertainment needs; however, he did not give any details on how Nintendo plans on doing that.

It sounds as though Nintendo plans to branch out and become more than just a company that makes consoles and games. Logically Nintendo plans to aim at some of the popular trends out today that they are not a part of such as apps. While Nintendo already hinted earlier that they don’t plan on porting their games into mobile app versions, it’s possible they could plan on creating something new to enhance the Nintendo experience via mobile apps.  This is just a theory off the top of my head but with all the news we’ve heard so far it seems like this is likely the direction they will be going.

Some Megaman updates

Megaman Smash

Megaman Final Smash Megamen unit

A recent picture of the latest Super Smash Brothers game revealed a very interesting fact. Megaman’s final smash units all the megaman versions from the classic that you see as the playable character in the game to the other versions such as X, and Megaman.EXE.

Is this a quick and easy way to pay tribute to all fans of Megaman? Yeah of course it is but who cares because it’s great to see that the whole legacy of Megaman is used in the game. Further news regarding Megaman is the fact that now Wii U owners can download copies of Megaman Battle Network 3 Blue and/or White. The reason for this specific game in the series was due to the popularity of this specific game out of the six.

Tales of the World

Tales of the world

Tales of the World

Bandai Namco Games announced a new Tales game called Tales of the World: Reve Unitia.  From what we know right now it’s going to be a strategy game based off of the popular tales games and will include famous characters like Lloyd from Tales of Symphonia, Yuri from Tales of Vesperia, Natalia and Jade from Tales of the Abyss, and so on.

We don’t know if the game will get a western release, but personally as a fan of strategy games and the Tales series this is a game I’m on pins and needles hoping that this game will come to the U.S. The game is for the Nintendo 3DS and will include two never before seen characters in the Tales series Terun and Nahato.  The game will also have voice acting which means if it does get a western release it begs the question who will voice Lloyd. The original voice actor for Lloyd in the first Tales of Symphonia game, did not return for the sequel so hopefully that won’t be the case for this game.

Tales in the West

Tales in the West

For awhile the appearance of Tales games in the West was few and far between so it failed to get the recognition it deserved.   In fact there were many  games that developers just decided not to release to the states at all creating gaps spanning as much as two or three years between the western release of tales games.

For those who don’t know the Tales series is a well known RGP series which centers around a small party of characters. The combat isn’t turn based like most RPG’s, but rather an actual full scale combat scenario. What makes the combat so unique is you can play single player or multi player and each character has a unique set of moves. Then you have the incredible character development that goes into each game; the tales series creates characters that you can’t help but grow attached to because the game is long enough to add detail after detail to where you almost know the entire life history of each character. Then finally the story has just as many details as the characters so many twists and turns the stories are engaging, constantly changing, and full of surprises. Overall the tales games are games made for the detail oriented gamers.

Now that the developers are realizing that the tales games are generating big profits in the west you can expect more tales games coming to the states. Tales product Manager Dennis Lee had this to say on the topic.

“Working with our community and fans has helped the audience to grow, and we’re delighted to see it taking off so well in the west. Right now the team’s very focused on getting us caught up to Japan with the new releases, and they’re looking at different platforms to get these games out to the fans.   There were a couple of… experiments, you know, with games like Tales of Phantasia, which we released on iOS. That received some mixed results. In general, though, we’re looking at all of the ways in which we can bring the Tales of series to the fans.”

As a fan of the tales series this is good news for me. I recommend the series to anyone who enjoys great stories, great characters, and RGP’s in general.
